Basketball Hall of Famer David Thompson was a four-time NBA All-Star (1977, ’78, ’79 and ’83) who was also the 1976 ABA Rookie of the Year. During the 1977-78 NBA season, he was playing for the Denver Nuggets and helped the team post a 48-34 regular-season record and a first-place finish in the Western Conference’s Midwest Division. Though they lost to the Seattle SuperSonics in the Western Conference Finals, Thompson was superb in defeat by averaging 23.3 points and four rebounds per outing in the six-game series.

This lot features Thompson’s 1978 NBA Western Conference All-Star Game worn jersey. Although Buffalo’s Randy Smith's poured in a game-high 27 points off the bench to walk away with MVP honors, Thompson had a standout game as well albeit in a losing cause. He was the leading scorer for the West squad, pouring in 22 points on 10-of-16 shooting in 35 minutes on the floor. The offered red-and-blue polyester jersey reads “WEST STARS” across the front in white tackle twill sewn directly onto the jersey along with Thompson’s uniform number “33” which appears in blue tackle twill outlined in white. Five blue tackle twill stars outlined in white run down the right side of the jersey inside of a red and white stripe. Proper “Russell Athletic” tagging [size 42] appears on the left front tail complete with washing instructions included. He signed the front of the jersey in bold, black marker. His last name “THOMPSON” appears arched across the back in white tackle twill with his uniform number “33” in blue tackle twill outlined in white. Game use is evident.

Includes COA from PSA/DNA for autograph.
