In 1986, Mark McGwire played only 18 games for the Oakland Athletics as a late season call up from their minor league Tacoma affiliate. Because of his limited service, he was not considered a full-fledged rookie until 1987 when he was named AL Rookie of the Year.
Presented here is a 1986 Oakland A’s home jersey issued for McGwire. On the inner front left tail is the “Rawlings” manufacturer’s tag with size “46” and a flag tag that reads “SET 2 1986”. Across the front reads “OAKLAND” in green on yellow tackle twill. Across the back is the player name “McGWIRE” in green tackle twill.
