The 1937 All-Star Game was played at Griffith Stadium in Washington D.C. on July 7, 1937. President Franklin D. Roosevelt was on hand for the fifth edition of the Midsummer Classic and the first to be staged in the nation’s capital. The American League cruised to an easy victory on the strength of a homer and four RBIs from Lou Gehrig and three scoreless innings from Lefty Gomez. This All-Star Game is also remembered for the unfortunate event of Dizzy Dean being hit on the toe by an Earl Averill line drive. Attempting later in the season to come back before the toe was completely healed, Dean altered his delivery because of the toe, injured his arm and was never the same.

Presented here is an exceptionally high-grade baseball signed by 28 members of the victorious 1937 American League All- Star squad, eight of whom are Hall of Famers. Signatures include; Arthur Fletcher, Joe DiMaggio (HOF), Buddy Meyer, Johnny Murphy, Harland Clift, Moe Berg, Lefty Grove (HOF), Roger Cramer, Red Rolfe, Lou Gehrig (HOF), Beau Bell, Joe McCarthy (HOF), Bill Dickey (HOF), Wes Ferrell, Sam West, Mel Harder, Joe Cronin (HOF), Jimmie Foxx (HOF), Luke Sewell and Rick Ferrell (HOF). Signatures average 7-8/10 on the lightly toned, off-white OAL William Harridge ball (stampings obscured). In terms of condition and completeness this certainly ranks among the finest 1937 A.L. All-Star balls seen in the hobby.

Full LOA from PSA/DNA (No CH).
