The date was July 17, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio, where over 67,000 baseball fans had gathered in anticipation of a game between the New York Yankees and Cleveland Indians. The Yankees' star outfielder Joe DiMaggio had hit in a record 56 straight games, and the sell-out crowd wanted more. However, during the game Indians third baseman Ken Keltner made two diving stops of DiMaggio "rockets" down the line (in the first & seventh innings), and "The Streak" was history. Offered is OAL (Cronin) baseballs signed by Joe DiMaggio on the sweet spot and Ken Keltner on the west panel. Both signatures rate about 9/10 in uniform blue ink. The ball itself is mildly toned and blemish free. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
