This 18" by 14" sepia toned broadside display on rigid cardboard features the images of Negro League Stars from 1925. At the top of this extremely scarce piece, in light letters, are “Managers and Players of the East and West” showing Hall of Famer Alex Pompez of the Cuban Stars, Hall of Famer “Rube” Foster of the Chicago American Giants, Ed Bolden of the Hilldales, C.I. Taylor of the ABC’s and others. Below are players including two images of Hall of Famers “Cyclone” Joe Williams of the New York Lincoln Giants and “Cannonball” Dick Redding of the Brooklyn Giants. The broadside also includes images of John Donaldson, “Chappie” Johnson, “String Bean” Williams and a galaxy of others. There are 40 individual images shown and the photographer is pictured and listed as “V. Henley (Cuba) Official Photographer." Our consignor acquired this one of a kind broadside from famed Cuban Stars pitcher Juanelo Mirabol. Included in this lot is Mirabol’s 1925 Negro League player’s contract. The photo is in fair condition with moderate toning and staining throughout. There are cracks throughout the photo and although the edges and corners throughout have been chipped off, the central image is not affected.
Estimate: $4,000-6,000
