This famous photograph captures the two great sluggers together during their 1927-28 barnstorming tour. The "Bustin' Babes" and "Larrupin Lou's" tour was wildly successful and provided fans in cities lacking a major league team the rare opportunity to see the great Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig in action. The tour also availed the players of additional earnings and some speculate that Gehrig made more on his barnstorming trips than he did during the regular season. This image was produced specifically for this tour as a promotional item available to fans, each copy bearing facsimile autographs of both Ruth and Gehrig. The owner of this example had good fortune to have the Iron Horse personally add an authentic signature with inscription: “To My True Sincere Friend Harry Hosmer Most Sincerely….” Gehrig's elegant writing rates 8/10. The 8” by 10” photo itself has light surface soiling, a small left border tear, and chipping at the bottom right corner and upper righty edge.
