Presented here is one of the first-ever Kobe Bryant autographed rookie cards, along with the program from his final high school tournament, the 1995 Beach Ball High School Classic. Young Mamba appears on the underrated card in his white Lower Merion High School uniform. The Score Board brand certainly can't measure up to the likes of Upper Deck, Hoops, Skybox or Fleer that dominated the basketball card market in the 1990's. But it does have the distinction of releasing a signed Kobe rookie well before any of the big card manufacturers. Kobe signed the card in bold blue pen.
Kobe was America’s Consensus #1 player at the Beach Ball Classic held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center from Dec. 26-30th, 1995. Kobe put on an impressive show throughout the tournament, scoring 117 points in three games, two of those being 45-point performances. Bryant's team did not end up winning the tournament, but the 17-year-old won first place in the slam dunk contest.
