In the 1974 season, Erving suffered from knee pains and was forced to wear special braces on the court, but it didn't stop him from another spectacular season. On his 25th birthday, he scored 57 points against San Diego. Erving led the New York Nets to the league's best regular season record, capped by the first champioship in franchise history. Julius Erving was named SPORTS Magazine’s Performer of the Year in Pro Basketball for 1974 and received the offered plaque. Measuring 12” by 15”, the wood plaque bears a large metal printing plate from a SPORT magazine cover featuring Erving affixed to the front. An engraved metal placard at bottom features Erving’s name and titling. Dr. J has signed the back of this highly significant ABA award in black sharpie. Several scratches affect the wood plaque and metal elements, not diminishing its considerable historical significance.
Includes a signed LOA from Julius Erving.
