Striking 1890's Gentleman Jim Corbett, World's Heavyweight Champion, portrait photo displayed in a vintage ornate wood frame. Corbett is shown in full formal attire. Oval frame measures 14 1/2" tall by 8 1/2" wide. Unfortunately it appears that a larger size cabinet photo of Corbett was cut down in size to display in the oval frame. At the bottom left of the photo "Truly" and "bett" are visible. The "bett" matches Corbett autographs we have sold in the past. However the width of the frame covering the rest of the signature is only 3/4", it is unlikely that there is enough room for all of the signature to still be present. The frame itself looks to be very old, possibly turn of the century. Pieces are chipped off at both the top and bottom edges of the frame. All things considered a beautiful display piece from an early Hall of Fame World's Heavyweight Champion who fought against 9 other Hall of Fame boxers during his 24 fight career.

Also included are a pair of small metal engraved ID tags which read "RETURN TO JAS. J. CORBETT THE LAMBS CLUB NEW YORK U.S.A." AND "IF FOUND DROP IN ANY LETTER BOX JAS. J. CORBETT "LAMBS CLUB" NEW YORK N.Y.". Both have clean fronts with green oxidizing on the backs.

Includes a Letter of Provenance from the Helms Athletic Foundation/LA84 Collection.

Because of the lack of a full signature PSA/DNA did not offer an opinion.
