First as a college athlete and Olympic hero, then as a graceful ambassador for health and fitness, Jesse Owens was one of the most photographed sports heroes of his day. Besides the millions of photographs taken of him, countless books and magazines reproduced his likeness. This is Jesse Owens’ personal photo album in which he carefully selected the images that carried a personal meaning or memory for him. The 22-page album features 21 photos depicting the great Olympian throughout his adult life.

There are several photos of Owens and President Gerald Ford when he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1976, various promotional portraits and candid shots. Mixed in with original and reproduction black and white photographs are images removed from books and magazines representing significant events in Owens’ life. Two photos are autographed by Jesse and personally dedicated to a special recipient (unsure how he got these back)--one showing Owens holding his four Olympic gold medals (most likely the reissued set now housed at OSU) and another of him posing as a jazz big band leader. The collection is a visual timeline of Jesse Owens’ life and has been kept in its original order as it was assembled by the man himself.

Includes LOA signed by each of Jesse Owens' three daughters. Autographs pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
