After his triumph at the 1936 Berlin Games, Jesse Owens became a household name. Owens kept in the public eye, first by giving exhibitions of his speed and later as a promoter of various health and athletic initiatives for kids. This striking pewter honorary plate was presented to the former college track & field champion by Penn State University. The plate featured a detailed rendition of the university’s crest surrounded by the institution’s name. The plate shows good use with many surface abrasions and slight tarnishing from age. A very attractive presentation plate presented by one of America’s finest universities to one of the greatest college athletes of all time.
