Jesse Owens 1936 Olympic triumph and his subsequent life spent dedicated to humanity and understanding was a message that transcended national boundaries. To emphasize that point, the French Athletics Association celebrated the 100th anniversary of Owens’ birth with this special award. The elegant crystal and black-tinted glass award measures 6¼" x 2" x 10" and is engraved with “Centenaire de la naissance de Jesse Owens 12 septembre 2013 UNESCO-PARIS.” The award shows very light wear and is a unique example of how athletics reaches beyond countries and borders.
