The example set by Jesse Owens knew no international borders. From his record setting college days and four gold medals at the 1936 Olympics through his later life dedicated to serving as a goodwill ambassador, Jesse Owens was the most recognized Olympic athlete in the world. In the capital city of the Ivory Coast, Yamoussoukro, the street on which the United States Embassy was built was named in honor of the great Olympian. In recognition of this honor, the nation of Côte d'Ivoire presented Owens with this hard cover photo book illustrating life in that African nation in 1971. Most significantly, the book has been signed in black pen by the first president of the Ivory Coast, Félix Houphouët-Boigny, along side his official presidential stamp.
Includes LOA signed by each of Jesse Owens' three daughters.
