To celebrate the 80th anniversary of Jesse Owens’ triumph at the 1936 Olympic Games, the Amateur Athletics Association posthumously honored the Olympian with its Gussie Crawford Award. The ceremony held on April 11, 2017, featured Owens’ granddaughter Gina Hemphill-Strachan to accept the award on behalf of her family. The award consists of a black and silver globe mounted on a pedestal with an engraved plaque reading “2017 AAU Gussie Crawford Lifetime Achievement Award To Honor Jesse Owens Track & Field”. This all sits on a sturdy marble and silver-colored metal base. The trophy weighs a hefty ten pounds and measures 9" x 4" x 12". It shows little handling and comes as-issued.
Includes LOA signed by each of Jesse Owens' three daughters.
