Not everyone can run as fast as Jesse Owens, but the examples he set both on and off the athletic field is something everyone could and should aspire to. The city of Columbus, Ohio, home of his alma mater The Ohio State University, sponsors a commemorative 5K run/walk Jesse Owens’ honor. This large medal (3" in diameter) and ribbon was presented to the Owens family after the 2nd running of the event in 2016. The medal features a beautiful depiction of Owens in full stride with the modern Columbus skyline behind him below which “JESSE OWENS JOG MMXVI” is engraved. The bright red, white and blue ribbon reads “2.62 MILE FUN RUN & WALK and the date October 15, 2016. The medal and ribbon together weighs a combined 114g. An attractive piece that demonstrates Owens’ legacy and ideals are alive and well some 38 years after his passing.
Includes LOA signed by each of Jesse Owens' three daughters.
