Freshly graded by PSA, this 1955 Topps #2 Ted Williams has been autographed by the Splendid Splinter in blue marker parallel to his facsimile signature that distinguishes the '55 Topps set as one of the most treasured of its era. Due to Ted's autograph running too close to the edge, PSA/DNA could only give it a 9 grade.
The PSA EX 5 assessment of the card itself, however, puts it in a league of its own. Of 16 signed examples in the PSA pop, no others are graded higher than VG-EX. Slightly off-center horizontally, the panoramic layout presents sharp colors and lovely eye appeal with clean borders and light even rounding of the corners. What an incredible example in both quality and preservation. A true 1-of-1 at the top of the pop!
Our consignor, who built an amazing collection of vintage autographed cardboard over several decades, got this card signed by Ted in-person at a collectibles show many years ago. He even has photo evidence, which we posted to the listing.
