The Holiday Bowl is a college football game that’s held in
San Diego and has been played annually since 1978 at San Diego County Credit Union Stadium (formerly Jack Murphy and Qualcomm stadiums). Starting
with the 2014 edition, it has featured a match-up of Pac-12 and Big Ten teams. This lot features the Kiwanis Club Holiday Bowl Champions Trophy, which covers from the inaugural year of 1978 through 1997. The date and final score of each of those 20 match-ups is engraved on a large black plaque that sits at the base of the 29-inch-tall award. A three-tiered trophy, which weighs 14 pounds, it features a bronzed regulation-football at the top with a large black plaque in the center that reads as follows: “KIWANIS HOLIDAY BOWL TROPHY Presented by the Kiwanis Club of San Diego.” The trophy’s base stretches 16 inches wide by 16 inches deep.
Includes Letter of Provenance from the San Diego Hall of Champions.
