In 1962, the San Francisco Giants, under the direction of skipper Alvin
Dark, posted an overall record of 103-62 to win the National League
pennant by a single game over the runner-up Los Angeles Dodgers. Led by
the big bats of Willie Mays (49 HR), Orlando Cepeda (35 HR) and Felipe
Alou (25 HR), the Giants scored a league-leading 878 runs that season.
This lot features a team-signed San Francisco Giants Official National
League (Giles) baseball from that remarkable season, even though they
lost the World Series in seven games to the vaunted New York Yankees.
The baseball has been signed in blue ink by 28 team members with Stu
Miller on the sweet spot. Other notable signatures on the ball include
Hall of Famers Mays, McCovey, Cepeda and Gaylord Perry along with stars like
Alou, Don Larsen and Juan Marichal.
