In 1978 the Yankees defeated the rival Dodgers for the second consecutive World Series in a row by the same 4 games to 2 margin. Goose Gossage appeared in three 1978 World Series Games pitching 6 scoreless innings. He was the winning pitcher in the crucial Game 4, which evened up the Series at two games apiece. This capped off a very successful 1978 season for the Goose who won 10 games with a 2.01 ERA and posted 27 Saves during the regular season. He then had 1 Win with 1 Save in two appearances against Kansas City in the 1978 American League Championship Series. Goose’s 1978 New York Yankees Balfour 14K World Championship Ring features a large real diamond atop a dark blue stone surrounded by 21 small diamonds and proclamation "WORLD CHAMPIONS". The "Yankees" team name, the facade of Yankee Stadium, and a World Series Trophy rendering with "New York Yankees World Champions" appears on one side. "Gossage", "54", "1978", "Pride", "Tradition", and a large "NY" appear on the other. The inside band is stamped with "Greatest Come Back In History", and "LGB 14K". The Yankees overcame a 14 game mid-July deficit to claim the American League East title. This incredible treasure, given to Hall of Fame closer Goose Gossage, is one of the finest rings ever offered from the modern Yankees Dynasty.
