This is a remarkable piece of baseball history represented here in the actual 14K gold tie clasp presented to Hall of Famer George Sisler at a special ceremony at Yankee Stadium on Aug. 9, 1958. The four living .400 hitters were rounded up for a unique group photograph, and each was presented with the 14K gold tie clasp that features a 3-inch baseball bat with a small baseball "diamond" attached at the center. Actual diamonds are installed at first and third base, and rubies at home plate and second base. The words "Honoring .400 hitters and the player's name and the ceremony date surround a Yankees logo at the center; on the bat barrel the year batting .400 and the actual batting mark(s) are listed. On the Sisler tie clasp that's .407 (1920) and .420 (1922), his two years above the amazing .400 figure. The clasp seems to be in essentially as-issued and problem-free condition. Included with the lot is an 8-by-10 black-and-white photograph of Sisler's son, George Jr., holding both the clasp and a framed photograph of the four legends - Bill Terry, Ted Williams, Rogers Hornsby and Sisler - at that 1958 ceremony at Yankee Stadium. The photo is in excellent condition and shows editor cropping marks on the front and Columbus Citizen-Journal markings on the reverse. Also included is the actual newspaper clipping with the photo and the featured 1977 article.

Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the Sisler Family.
