Early LeBron James high school era autograph on "The Chosen One" SPORTS ILLUSTRSATED cover, beautifully inscribed with "Never Give Up." The signature was obtained weeks after the magazine was published at the Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary's team hotel in Columbus, Ohio at the Ohio State high school basketball tournament, March, 2002.
Provenance: Our Ohio based consignor Jerry Ankenbauer embarked on his autograph collecting journey in 1988. His first attempts were mailing to two of his favorite college basketball players of the day, Jay Burson of Ohio State and Hank Gathers of Loyola Marymount. When both responded to Jerry's request, not only with signatures but with motivational messages as well, Jerry was off and running on a collection of in-person and through the mail autographs that has now spanned over 30 years.
