The National Basketball Association celebrated its fifty years of existence in 1996 by naming its 50 Greatest Players in NBA History. The select fifty were chosen by a panel of writers, executives, coaches, and former players. Announced on October 29, 1996, the list kicked off a season-long celebration of the NBA, culminating in 47 living members gathering in person for a ceremony before the 1997 All-Star Game in Cleveland. The occasion was documented with a group photo, each of the 47 donning a warmup jacket from the team they were best identified with. This photograph has been reproduced in the media and the open market since 1997, but this is one of the original large size Type 1 prints that were only given to each of the 50 players and select NBA personnel. As a Type 1, the clarity and color far surpass the mass produced versions. The photograph measures 16” x 20” and have been graded a Type 1 by PSA.
