Even before she became the most famous movie star in the world, photographers were drawn to her. This photograph of Norma Jean Mortenson was part of a series taken for the Fox Studios Publicity Department by David Cicero in 1947. It was later used in the early 1950s for a “look back” feature on the origins of the now world famous Marilyn Monroe. As it is a professional studio photograph, the clarity, quality, and contrast are beautiful, especially for a Type IV print. The photo has wear present on the white borders though none of this affects the main image of Marilyn. The reverse has the Syndication International Ltd. Stamp along with “Marilyn Monroe” handwritten in pen. The photograph measures 8” x 10” and has been encapsulated and graded a Type IV by PSA.
