Clyde “The Glide” Drexler was the Portland Trail Blazers all-star shooting guard. In 1989 he was selected to compete in the annual Slam Dunk Contest, an event Michael Jordan had won the two previous years. Though Kenny Walker would eventually win, Clyde Drexler left us with one magnificent image from the contest.
This striking action shot captures Drexler as he glides upwards towards the basket, readying the ball for his slam dunk. The photo shows light toning and edge wear, with the corners exhibiting slight rounding and creases. “#1A” has been handwritten in black marker in the white border along the left side of the photo. The reverse of the photo has various pencil notations and archive markings along with a John Soohoo/NBA credit label. There is glue residue present along with toning throughout.
The photo has been encapsulated and graded an Authentic Type 1 by PSA.
