In 1959, former Dodgers’ great Don Drysdale was firmly establishing himself as one of the major league’s top pitchers. He posted a record of 17-13 that season, but went 4-0 for the month of July. This is the marble-base, dual pen set Drysdale earned from the N.L. Baseball Writers & Broadcasters for being named July’s National League Player of the Month. It measures 10” wide by five inches deep and includes an engraved gold plaque on top that reads: “PRESENTED TO DON DRYSDALE LOS ANGELES DODGERS IN RECOGNITION OF BEING NAMED NATIONAL LEAGUE PLAYERS OF THE MONTH FOR JULY, 1959.” The plaque includes N.L. President Warren Giles’ engraved signature.
Includes LOA from the Drysdale Family.
