Commemorating 100 years of Dodgers baseball, this LeRoy Neiman limited edition serigraph entitled "Dodgers' Centennial" was created and distributed by the master sports artist in 1990. Honoring the Dodger legacy from both Brooklyn and Los Angeles, it features memorable imagery and figures from the Dodger history books including: Sandy Koufax following through after a pitch; Maury Wills sliding for a stolen base; Fernando Valenzuela (#34) about to deliver a pitch; and Kirk Gibson's (#23) raising his arm after his game-winning home run in the 1988 World Series. In thevery with the first name or nicknames of several players including Walt, Tommy, Babe, Leo, Maury, Cookie, Ducky, Campy, Big D, Dixie, Pee Wee and Buck. The image measures 39.5" by 31.75" and is printed masterfully on a 45.5" by 38.75" thick white sheet. Hand numbered on the bottom left "53/125", it most definitely is not a coincidence that Drysdale received the same edition as his jersey number. LeRoy Neiman's pencil signature is found on the opposite side at bottom right. The piece is not framed and instead comes with the original tube container (8.5" in diameter and 41" long) in which former Dodgers owner Peter O'Malley mailed it to Drysdale. The two addresses are penned in bold marker on the outside of the tube: from the Dodgers team headquarters to Don's Pasadena, CA residence. Overall, the piece comes in NM-MT condition. The edges and corners of the white paper background are worn, and there are some smudge marks and finger prints visible on the white outer sections from handling. But these are certainly cleanable and removable with the proper products. Once framed, these periphery imperfections will be hidden and colorful piece of artwork is sure to be a head-turner. Great piece for any Dodgers collector.
