Almost immediately upon retiring from his prolific playing days with the Los Angeles Dodgers, right-handed pitcher Don Drysdale started a successful sports broadcasting career that would span for nearly 25 years. This lot features a pair of broadcasting awards Drysdale received (one posthumously) for his outstanding service behind the microphone. The first is a wooden plaque from KABC Radio that “Big D” received during his first season of broadcasting Dodgers games for their flagship station. It also just happened to be a World Series-winning campaign for the Blue Crew. Measuring 10” wide by 8” high, it includes a golden microphone alongside a special plaque that reads: “Presented to Don Drysdale in Recognition of Your Great Contribution to the Memorable 1988 Dodger Season on KABC Radio.” The second award is a beautiful beveled glass award standing on a black base from the Southern California Sports Broadcasters (SCSB) Association. It was marking Drysdale posthumous enshrinement in the SCSB Hall of Fame in 1998, five years following his untimely death. It measures 8.5” wide by 8” high.

Includes LOA from the Drysdale Family.
