Presented here is the Gold medal awarded to Christian Laettner as a member of "The Dream Team" during the 1992 USA Basketball Tournament of the Americas. The tournament, held in Portland, Oregon, served as a precursor to the 1992 Summer Olympics, and the top four teams from this event qualified for the Summer Games. The Dream Team, widely regarded as the most remarkable sports team ever assembled, showcased their dominance by finishing the tournament with a perfect 6-0 record and winning the gold medal match up against Venezuela by a staggering 47 points. The star power of Team USA was evident even at this early stage, as opposing players eagerly sought photos and souvenirs from many of the USA players.

The front of the medal features the inscription "Basketball Tournament of the Americas Portland Oregon 1992" encircling a depiction of the North and South American continents superimposed on a larger basketball symbolizing the world. The back of the medal is blank. This medal, made of base metal, is likely composed of iron and has a diameter of 2.5 inches, weighing 2.7 ounces. Some areas of oxidation can be observed near the top right, and a small dot is visible on the far left edge. It is accompanied by a red, white, and blue ribbon. A letter of provenance from Christian Laettner is included with the medal.
