The late, great Tony Gwynn was arguably the best pure hitter in baseball history. With eight National League batting titles to his credit and a career .338 average, Gwynn was an easy first-ballot Hall of Fame inductee into Cooperstown in 2007. In 20 different MLB seasons, he never struck out more than 40 times in any one campaign. He was also a perennial All-Star Game selection and started in 15 Mid-Summer Classics. Featured here is one of the bats "Mr. Padre" swung early in his career as he was making a name for himself. The Louisville Slugger Tony Gwynn professional model C263 bat exhibits evidence of moderate use and is un-cracked. A few ball marks and ball stitch impressions are visible on the front and right barrel, including black in transfers. There is a moderate coat of pine tar on the upper handle. Gwynn's player number (19) is written on the knob and top of the barrel in black marker. Includes ungraded LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA.
