No photo better illustrates the popularity of John F. Kennedy in 1960 than this classic image captured during his Presidential campaign. Energetically standing atop a convertible amid a jam packed crowd and being showered with confetti, this represents the cultural shift away from the conservative 1950s Eisenhower years and on into the exciting unknown of the 1960s. Looking at this image taken by Eli Silverberg of the Miami News it is not hard to see why JFK embodied a bright and promising future for many Americans. The image has been printed to its edges and shows some surface wear, most noticeably in the center of the top edge. The reverse of the photo has a date stamp of “Nov 3 1960,” handwritten notations and a “RUSH” stamp. The photograph measures 8 1/2” x 11” and has been encapsulated and graded a Type 1 by PSA.
