This scarce Paul Waner singled signed baseball dates to the 1950's based on the Wilson manufacturing stamps of the Official Pony League (Lew Hays) ball. "Big Poison" (his younger brother Lloyd was tabbed "Little Poison") led the National League in batting three times and finished his career with a .333 lifetime average, which currently puts him tied for 22nd on baseball's all-time list. A member of the elite 3,000 Hit Club, Waner spent 15 of his 20 big-league seasons as a Pittsburgh Pirate and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1952.

Having passed away relatively early in 1965 at the age of 62, there remains a low supply of Waner singles in the hobby. This is just the second exemplar we have offered at auction (our only other on record sold for $9K back in 2012). Waner has scripted his name in blue ink on the south panel, with the signature rating 5-6/10 in our book. The lightly toned ball has some white scuffing and remains in very good overall condition. Includes LOA's from JSA and Beckett.
