In terms of career records, one that will never, ever, be broken is Cy Young’s unfathomable 511 victories. Sure, it came during an era where pitchers worked much more frequently and with longer leashes than today. Yet, Cy's nearest competition from the modern era is still over 150 wins behind him. He was, without question, the greatest pitcher of his day and perhaps the greatest of all time. For that reason, Cy Young signed baseballs will always be highly coveted. Featured here is an exquisite example that presents as a lovely single.

The Official American Association ball, which dates to 1935-44 based on the presidential stamp of George Troutman, hold a majestic Cy autograph that begins at the sweet spot and runs across the side panel. He used a blue ballpoint pen that rates 7/10 in our opinion. There is another signature on the opposite panel (completely out of view of Cy's) from Emmett "Turk" Reilly, an old minor league ballplayer who managed the Mark Greys of Zanesville, OH. Not coincidentally, Young lived in Ohio his entire life before passing away in 1955. The creamy ball is well-preserved with consistent light-to-moderate toning throughout, improving the eye appeal of Young's striking autograph immensely. Includes a full LOA from JSA.
