This is one of the more evocative portraits of the great Babe Ruth. The Babe is perched at the mouth of the Yankees dugout, his eyes shielded against the afternoon sun by his well-worn wool cap, a buttoned warm up jacket draped over his flannel uniform. While undated, the photo appears to have been taken during the “Murderer’s Row” era of the mid to late 1920s, when Babe Ruth and his Yankees ruled the game. The well-balanced portrait has been printed to the edge of the paper, the lack of white border making this 7 1/2" X 9 1/2" Type 1 photo even more striking. The reverse has various stamps, pencil notations and labels including the original Underwood & Underwood stamp. The edges show just light wear, and the corners remain sharp. A stunning portrait of The Babe taken right at the very height of his career. The ticket has been encapsulated and graded an Authentic Type 1 by PSA.
