Offered in this lot is a true one-of-a-kind display featuring a promotional piece from Dr. Jaynes Expectorant. The circa 1910s promotion featured die-cut baseball figures that were meant to be cut out as a supplemental promotion along with their medicine in the early 1900s. Instructions read as follows "Take scissors or sharp knife and carefully cut out around each player. At the base cut the heavy black lines and lightly score the dotted lines' then bend back the two wings at the dotted lines and the player will stand on a table or flat surface. FOLDER NO. 2, CONTAINING SIX ADDITIONAL PLAYERS WILL BE SENT ON RECEIPT OF A TWO-CENT STAMP". A unique approach to a promotional opportunity in the 1910s. Some phrases used by Dr. Jayne's Expectorant include "Little folks often suffer from acute colds, which soon become dangerous. Jayne's Expectorant helps them" and "The difficulty in breathing, resulting from bronchial troubles, can be quickly relieved with Jayne's Expectorant". The offered display measures 34.5"x29" in size. Each die-cut player has been affixed in their correlating position to create a true one-of-a-kind display.
