By the time Wilt Chamberlain joined the Los Angeles Lakers, he had already established himself as the most prolific scorer and rebounder the game had ever seen. He was the prototype NBA big man, dunking and cleaning the glass seemingly at will throughout the 1960's with the Warriors and 76ers. His 100-point game in '62 will never be matched. Neither will his career-high season averages of 50.4 points and 27.2 rebounds. Statistically, "Wilt the Stilt" is untouchable. Aesthetically, the 7-footer was known for his headband, much like Kareem and his goggles. Presented here is one of Chamberlain's game-worn headbands, circa 1971, around the time the Lakers won the NBA title over the New York Knicks in the ’72 Finals. The yellow headband has a 9” towel section for absorbing sweat off Wilt’s head. It has an elastic strap that goes around the back of the head. Shows solid wear with some light soiling and sweat staining. It comes with strong provenance from a former Lakers ball boy who received it as a gift from Wilt after a home game. SCP founder and renowned Laker collector David Kohler give it his seal of approval. Super rare piece from a basketball legend.

 LOA from Lakers ball boy.
