Cliff Hagan, a 6’ 4” forward who excelled with the hook shot, played his entire 10-year NBA career (1956–1966) with the then-St. Louis Hawks. He helped the Hawks win the NBA title in 1958 and was a five-time All-Star selection. For his prolific career, Hagan scored a total of 14,780 points, pulled down 5,555 rebounds and tallied 2,646 assists. To no one’s surprise he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1978.

This lot features Hagan’s game-worn St. Louis Hawks jersey, circa 1962, a season in which he averaged 22.9 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. The well-worn, size 48 Rawlings red dureen jersey shows exceptional game use with fraying evident on both the jersey numbers and lettering throughout. Across the front of the jersey reads “HAWKS” in white tackle twill outlined in blue, positioned just above his jersey number “16.” Larger, seven-inch high jersey numbers appear on the reverse in similar tackle twill fashion. Proper tagging can be found on the rear inside tail of the jersey with the Rawling’s manufacturer’s tag sewn on next to a washing instructions tag requesting “lukewarm water with mild soap.” Truly an outstanding piece of sports memorabilia from one of the most beloved players in St. Louis basketball history.
