The offered Beech-Nut advertising display poster depicts the St. Louis Cardinals' pitching tandem of Dizzy and Daffy Dean. The poster most likely originates from 1934, when the brothers won a combined 49 games for the Cardinals, leading them to a World Series victory over the Detroit Tigers. The two pitchers are pictured in their home uniforms, their right arms outstretched, firmly gripping baseballs. Their facsimile signatures adorn their torsos. The phrase "A Great Chew" is neatly scripted in blue across its yellow background. A large baseball mitt with a box of Lorillard's Beech-Nut Chewing Tobacco acts as the perfect backdrop behind the two brothers. The impressive poster measures approximately 10" x 19-1/2" and is certainly one of the most attractive displays of its time. An extremely light horizontal mailing fold is evident as are two small pieces of tape in its upper corners, most likely remnants from originally being displayed as intended. The high quality paper poster has been framed and matted to measure 17" x 26-1/2" with an amazing EX-MT overall appearance.
