These two home white jerseys were worn by Clyde Lovellette during the 1946-1948 seasons at Garfield High. The first jersey has “GARFIELD” arched across the front above his number “16” in purple tackle twill. The arm and neck openings are ringed in purple ribbing. A McMillan label is sewn in the collar with a white size hang tag affixed. The back of the jersey has Lovellette’s number “16” in purple tackle twill. The jersey shows tremendous game use with overall toning and loose threads throughout. As a nod to the hard-nosed, take no prisoners style of play he would be famous for when he turned pro, this high school jersey has a series of blood smears on the lower front area. The second jersey is of a simpler trim-less design, with “GARFIELD” across the front above Lovellette’s number “16” in purple tackle twill. A McMillan label is sewn in the collar with a white size 40 hang tag affixed. The back of the jersey has Lovellette’s number “16” in purple tackle twill. The jersey has overall toning throughout along with many stains and abrasions from extensive game use. A spectacular set of jerseys that shows the kind of wear you expect to find on the uniform worn by a future NBA star. Accompanied by an LOA from the family of Clyde Lovellette.
