There was one word that aptly describes Clyde Lovellette’s NCAA career at the University of Kansas: dominant. Lovellette was the Big Seven’s leading scorer in all three of his varsity seasons and capped off his senior year by leading the entire nation in scoring and being named the 1952 Helms College Player of the Year. That same season he led the KU Jayhawks to the NCAA title while grabbing the MVP Award and set a NCAA record by scoring 141 points. This 10 karat gold charm was awarded to the future NBA Hall of Famer during his tremendous 1952 college season. The charm is fashioned in the shape of a basketball with a dimensional red University of Kansas “K” logo at its center. “51” and “52” are on each side in raised numbers and blue ribbons with “BIG SEVEN” and “CHAMPIONS” above and below. The back of the charm has been engraved with “CLYDE LOVELLETTE” along with a 10K hallmark. A fixed ring with a chain link is located on the top of the charm for attachment to a watch chain or necklace. The charm shows some abrasions and scuffing from age, but the blue ribbon and red “K” remain very bright. Accompanied by an LOA from the family of Clyde Lovellette.
