Incredible circa 1893 Buck Ewing Cleveland Spiders Pifer & Becker Cabinet Photo that once belonged to legendary Hall of Fame pitcher Cy Young. One of the group of 7 cabinet photos sent by Young to a friend, probably in the 1930's, this one also has been identified in Young's own hand at the bottom, "B. Ewing". Ewing, a Hall of Fame catcher approaching the end of his career, played mainly the outfield with Cleveland in 1893 and 1894. Ewing posted a solid .316 average over 169 games during his 2 year stay with the Spiders. Cabinet photo itself is in great condition, crease free with a crystal clear photo image. Back is also very clean with a slight 1/4" to 3/8" strip at the top from when the cabinet was removed from an album owned by Young. Pictured photo is exactly the same as the one used in the extremely rare 1893 Just So Tobacco issue.
