Casey Stengel's 54 distinguished years in baseball spanned everything from the Dead Ball Era to Mickey Mantle’s booming home runs. Through it all, Stengel’s colorful personality and instantly quotable remarks made him one of baseball’s most beloved characters. In the 1950s, the New York Yankees skipper was nicknamed “The Old Perfessor” by sportswriters for his sharp wit and his ability to talk at length on anything baseball-related. He managed the Bronx Bombers from 1949 to 1960 and won seven World Series titles with the team during that span including five straight Fall Classics from 1949 to ’53.

The offered lot of (16) original photographs feature Casey Stengel in a variety of scenarios. Many are wire photos from sources such as AP, UPI, Wide World, International News, Acme, Bob Olen, New York Herald Tribune, and others with most having original paper captions on back. A very substantive group capturing the essence of one of the game’s most colorful characters.  Condition averages EX-MT or better.
