Bruce Springsteen’s critical success finally met commercial success with the release of his 1984 album Born in the U.S.A.. To call it the turning-point in Bruce’s career would be an understatement, as his seventh studio album placed him firmly on the pop charts with seven Top Ten singles and propelled him into a global superstar. The title track is self-described as one of his best songs. The subsequent Born in the U.S.A. Tour grossed nearly $100 million overall with total attendance of 3.9 million.

This red Takamine acoustic was used by Springsteen on stage during the 1984 Born in the U.S.A. World Tour and came directly from an original member of Bruce's E Street crew. Specifically, this guitar was used in the performances of the songs Used Cars and Mansion on the Hill from the critically acclaimed Nebraska album (1982). Because there was no tour previously for Nebraska, the songs were added to the Born in the U.S.A. tour playlists. The guitar has been beautifully preserved  in excellent condition and carefully stored after being gifted by Bruce to a crew member in 1986. It is Takamine model 381 with serial number 83071957It and comes with its original Takamine case, and original used capo.

A detailed letter of authenticity from the source is included. This individual’s relationship with Bruce goes all the way back to 1973 when he signed his first contract with Columbia Records. Bruce was discovered by the legendary John Hammond, who also discovered Nobel Prize Winner Bob Dylan. Springsteen stage used guitars are few and far between in the marketplace. The quality of this instrument, period of use and exceptional provenance make this one the finest guitars you will likely ever see offered for sale. Articles of provenance available online.
