Baseball Hall of Famer Bob Gibson was one of the National League’s most intimidating pitchers who racked up 251 victories during the course of his 17-year career with the St. Louis Cardinals (1959 to ’75). He had five separate season in which he posted at least 20 wins and was a two-time Cy Young Award winner (1968 and ’70). This lot features a pair game-worn Cardinals items attributed to the great Bob Gibson including a red undershirt as well as an autographed Cardinals cap.

The well-worn red Rawlings undershirt (size 48) includes a pair of tags on the inside rear collar including a white tag with Gibson’s uniform number “45” written in black marker. Both sleeves have been cut off just inches from the shoulder and there appears to be yellow paint stains across the front which means Gibson wore this shirt not only in games but around his house doing chores. The red Cardinals New Era Pro Model cap shows light use with some sweat stains showing on the inside white sweat band and includes his uniform number “45” written in black marker on the underside of the brim. The front of the cap is adorned with the Cardinals’ trademark “STL” logo embroidered in white and outlined in blue. Gibson has signed the top of the brim in black marker.

Part of the esteemed Delbert Mickel estate collection. Autograph pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
