From the man who brought mythology to the game of baseball as no other has before (or since) comes a Babe Ruth single-signed baseball with equal parts of a great back story and a well-preserved relic that would be the envy of any museum. The graceful and iconic Ruth signature graces the sweet spot of a super condition ONL Ford Frick baseball, fabulously preserved with only the lightest creamy toning and a gentle fading of the stitches to a subtle bronze, producing a spectacular collectible. The ball is essentially without major issue, with only a solitary scuff mark of perhaps 3/4 of an inch in length, but not visible when the ball is displayed in the traditional fashion. But wait there's more, as they say. The ball comes with a touching letter that is transcribed in modern typeface but is dated Christmas Day, 1964. The the letter the consignor's Aunt and Uncle recount how the baseball was signed for the uncle after he had spent time in a hospital room with arguably the most famous roommate in the land: Babe Ruth. Touched by the man's kindness, Ruth offered to sign a baseball for him, the same ball that they gave to the 1-year-old nephew at his first Christmas. Nearly a half century later, it reaches the auction arena.
