In 1999, Major League Baseball commissioned these celebratory gold pocket watches to players and/or their respective families in honor of their selection to the All-Century Team. A panel of experts assembled by MLB selected the 100 greatest players of the 20th century. More than two million baseball fans worldwide then voted to determine the top players by position from this elite group. A blue ribbon panel then added five legends to narrow the list down to an elite thirty-man team dubbed the “Major League Baseball All-Century Team." Babe Ruth – who received the most votes along with his teammate Lou Gehrig – was the easiest selection of all.

Originally derived from the Ruth Estate, this pristine gold pocket watch (diameter 40 mm, weight 2.3 oz.) manufactured by Tiffany & Co. features the large “Major League Baseball All-Century Team” logo on the top. The other side reads “Babe Ruth Outfielder” between an embossed MLB logo and “ALL * CENTURY * TEAM.” The Portfolio model watch snaps open to reveal a lovely, antiquated design using roman numerals. The original gold vest chain, original Tiffany & Co. velvet bag, exterior box and related manuals all accompany this exceptionally well-maintained timepiece. Only thirty of these fine pieces of jewelry were produced, and none are more coveted than the Bambino’s. Awarded posthumously, it comes with a letter of provenance from the Ruth Family.
