On August 12, 2021, the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox took the field for the first game ever to be played in Iowa. Why? The MLB was playing its first-ever Field of Dreams game in a cornfield nearby the set of the all-time classic baseball movie. Kevin Costner led the two teams out of the cornfield and onto the Field of Dreams to begin the game. The stadium held just 8,000, but there was not an empty seat in the house as they watched the Yankees and White Sox players take turns bombing baseballs into the the acres of corn surrounding the field.

For New York, no big fly that disappeared in between the corn stalks was bigger than Giancarlo Stanton's ninth-inning shot. Stanton stepped in with the Yankees trialing 7-6 and down to the final out. Stanton changed that with one swing, taking the first pitch he saw deep for a two-run shot that gave his team an 8-7 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth. The epic game would end on Tim Anderson's walk-off two-run shot into the corn stalks beyond the right fence.

Offered here is Stanton's game-worn jersey from the historic Field of Dreams game. The jersey was originally offered by MLB to raise a total of $215,000 for MercyOne Dubuque Cancer Center in Iowa. The money went to the cancer center endowment fund to provide patients with oncology nurses, assist low-income patients and conduct clinical trials.

The jersey itself has a distinctive smell that tells us it was taken off his back almost immediately after his clutch home run. It is an iconic 1919 New York Yankees throwback jersey made specially for the Yanks for that game. The gray road jersey features 'NEW YORK' on the front in period font with Stanton's number '27' on the back in navy twill. The usual white trim seen on today's jerseys is notably absent. The MLB logo is in navy, white, and grey on the upper back neck.
