Great looking 1961 Basketball Hall of Fame Certificate of Election plaque honoring the great Buffalo Germans team. The Buffalo Germans team was formed in 1895 as a YMCA team around the Buffalo, New York area. Later on the team would win the AAU national tournament and Olympic Exhibition at St. Louis in 1904. The Buffalo Germans were dominant from 1908 through 1910, winning 111 straight games, and eventually compiling an overall record of 792-86 before disbanding in 1925. In 1961, they were the third team ever inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, just after the Original Celtics in 1959 and prior to the New York Renaissance in 1963.

Hall of Fame plaques like this example are rare items that were sent to inductees or their families. Others were displayed at the Basketball Hall of Fame for visitors to view. Measuring approximately 12 ¼" x 10", this plaque is signed by chairman William G. Mokray. A great piece of basketball history honoring one of the great teams of all time. Plaque is in excellent condition and ready to display on your wall.
