This Ty Cobb single signed and personalized baseball carries a gorgeous Cobb autograph on the side panel. Don't get scared away by the obvious name replacement; there's a perfectly good explanation for it. The consignor's grandfather decided long ago to remove the name of whoever Cobb meant to sign for with his own name, Clem. He actually did a pretty clean job, allowing the ball to hold its own among other Cobb single signed examples. "Best wishes To ___ From Ty Cobb" is done in strong 7/10 black ink. The "Clem" added much later on comes in a much more contemporary black pen. The slightly off white, lightly toned OAL (Harridge) ball is dated "7/11/43" on the sweet spot in an unknown hand, according to PSA/DNA. But the personalization is all in Cobb's hand (except "Clem" of course). A fine example in spite of its little blemish. Comes with its vintage Reach ball box and a full LOA from PSA/DNA.
