As Rafael Nadal nears the end of his storied tennis career, we are pleased to offer one of his tournament shirts from the 2021 ATP Citi Open in Washington, D.C. The 37-year-old Spaniard has battled injuries for the past four years, if not longer, and currently stands at 22 career grand slam titles, second only to Novak Djokokic for the most ever. His incredible combination of speed, strength, power and determination on the court has made him a fan favorite across the globe.
At the 2021 Citi Open (July 21 - Aug. 8), Rafa was knocked out in the third round by South African Lloyd Harris. During the tournament, Nadal could be seen wearing this same style blue Nike shirt with green trim at the collar and white sleeve ends. The tagging inside the collar reads "Custom Athlete" and the laundry tagging inside the left shirttail has another Nike tag with a coded manufacturing date of "FA21120SAC". Rafa's "Raging Bull" logo appears on the right chest in green alongside the Nike Swoosh. The shirt exhibits a light-to-moderate amount of wear. It was procured by our consignor from a mutual friend of Rafa's from his hometown of Manacor in Mallorca, Spain. A letter of provenance is included.
