The 2017–18 UEFA Champions League was the 63rd season of Europe's premier football club tournament, and the 26th campaign since it was renamed from the European Champion Clubs Cup to the UEFA Champions League in 1992. In the semifinal home and away rounds, Real Madrid got through Bayern Munich 4-3 on aggregate while Liverpool squeaked by Roma 7-6 in there two matches. In the Champion's League Final held in Kyiv, Ukraine, Real defeated defending champions Liverpool by a score of 3-1 to win a record-extending 13th title. Second half goals from Karim Benzema and two from Gareth Bale gave La Casa Blanca its third UCL title in a row and fourth in five seasons. Real's Cristiano Ronaldo led all players in scoring throughout the year-long tournament with 15 goals.
For Real Madrid's basketball team, the 2017–18 season was another banner year. In its 87th season in existence, Real won a record tenth EuroLeague title after defeating Fenerbahçe (Istanbul, Turkey) in the final. In the domestic Liga ACB, Madrid clinched the title after defeating Saski Baskonia. Real's star of the season was Slovenian teenager Luka Doncic, who claimed EuroLeague MVP, EuroLeague Final Four MVP and Liga ACB MVP before being drafted to the NBA.
